为应对数据中心扩张带来的备用发电机需求激增，劳斯莱斯宣布将投资7500万美元扩建其位于美国南卡罗来纳州艾肯市的发动机生产基地。这家伦敦上市公司周二表示，扩建项目将显著提升MTU 4000系列柴油发动机的加工能力，该机型专门为关键备用发电设备提供动力。
过去十年间，发电机市场需求持续攀升，人工智能数据中心的爆发式增长成为重要驱动因素。数据显示，仅去年一年，面向数据中心的发电设备销量就飙升近50%。工厂扩建后将新增60个全职岗位，使该基地员工总数增至434人。目前该机型核心部件主要在德国生产，以成品形式运往美国组装。
"我们致力于满足美国市场对本土制造能源系统日益增长的需求，"劳斯莱斯北美首席执行官亚当·里德尔强调，"全球过半超大规模数据中心位于美国，这将是公司未来多年的关键增长市场。"根据规划，首期扩建工程将于2026年第一季度启动，预计2027年7月正式投产。
