Major electric vehicle (EV) makers saw an increase in insurance registrations in China last week, as deliveries typically rise toward the end of the month.

In the week of July 21-27, week 30 of 2025, Nio (NYSE: NIO) brand vehicles had 3,250 insurance registrations in China, up 30.00 percent from 2,500 in the previous week, according to figures shared today on Weibo by several automotive industry observers.

Insurance registration figures for Nio's sub-brands Onvo and Firefly for last week are not yet available.

Nio Inc, including the Nio, Onvo, and Firefly brands, registered 5,000 vehicles for insurance in China last week, up 2.04 percent from 4,900 the previous week.

Nio Inc delivered 24,925 vehicles in June, marking a new high for the year and the second-highest on record. This represents a year-on-year increase of 17.52 percent and a month-on-month increase of 7.29 percent.

Onvo delivered 6,400 vehicles in June, up 1.89 percent from May. The brand will officially launch its flagship large SUV (sport utility vehicle) L90 on July 31.

Firefly delivered 3,932 vehicles in June, up 6.85 percent from May. Earlier today, Daniel Jin, president of the Nio sub-brand, said that Firefly has completed production line adjustments and will ramp up production this week, with deliveries set to accelerate.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) had 10,620 insurance registrations in China last week, up 7.27 percent from 9,900 the previous week.

The US EV maker has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, which are delivered to local customers and also serve as an export hub.

It will launch a six-seat Model Y L in China this fall, which will be larger than the five-seat Model Y.

Tesla earlier this month filed for a new Model 3 variant in China, which may offer a longer range of 800 km.

Tesla China sold 71,599 vehicles in June, including those sold in China and exported from China to overseas markets, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). This represents a 0.83 percent increase from the 71,007 vehicles sold in the same period last year and a 16.12 percent increase from the 61,662 vehicles sold in May.

The US EV maker's retail sales in China in June were 61,484 vehicles, the second highest this year, trailing only March's 74,127 vehicles.

Its Shanghai factory exported 10,115 vehicles in June, down 13.89 percent from 11,746 vehicles in the same period last year and down 56.16 percent from 23,074 vehicles in May.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) saw 8,400 insurance registrations last week, up 25.37 percent from 6,700 the previous week.

The company delivered 34,611 vehicles in June, marking eight consecutive months of deliveries exceeding 30,000 units. This represents a year-on-year increase of 224.44 percent and a month-on-month increase of 3.24 percent.

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) had 7,400 insurance registrations last week, up 5.71 percent from 7,000 the previous week.

It delivered 36,279 vehicles in June, down 24.06 percent year-on-year and down 11.20 percent from May.

Li Auto will officially launch its first all-electric SUV, the Li i8, in Beijing later today. It began accepting pre-orders for the six-seat Li i8 on July 17, with an expected price range of RMB 350,000 ($48,760) to RMB 400,000.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) brand vehicles saw insurance registrations of 58,810 units last week, up 14.42 percent from the previous week's 51,400 units.

BYD Group sold 382,585 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in June, marking the highest monthly sales figure so far this year.

This represents a year-on-year increase of 11.98 percent and a month-on-month increase of 0.03 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) had 7,590 insurance registrations last week, up 5.42 percent from the previous week's 7,200 units.

Xiaomi's EV unit Xiaomi EV, delivered over 25,000 units in June, it announced earlier this month.

On June 26, Xiaomi officially launched the YU7, its first electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), which is a competitor to the Tesla Model Y.

The YU7 received 200,000 firm orders within the first three minutes of going on sale and over 240,000 locked-in orders within 18 hours, Xiaomi previously announced.

On July 6, Xiaomi EV began deliveries of the YU7.

Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) brand's insurance registrations last week reached 3,300 units, up 10.00 percent from the previous week's 3,000 units.

Zeekr Group delivered 43,012 vehicles in June, down 7.58 percent from 46,538 units in May, ending three consecutive months of sequential growth.

The Zeekr brand delivered 16,702 vehicles in June, down 16.93 percent year-on-year and down 11.67 percent month-on-month.

Lynk & Co delivered 26,310 vehicles in June, up 7.66 percent year-on-year but down 4.78 percent month-on-month.

Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) had 8,700 insurance registrations last week, up 6.10 percent from 8,200 the previous week.

It delivered 48,006 vehicles in June, marking the second consecutive month of record-high deliveries.

This represents a 138.65 percent increase from the same period last year and a 6.52 percent increase from May's 45,067 units.

Aito, a brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres Group, registered 10,520 vehicles last week, up 10.74 percent from 9,500 the previous week.
