ZTE Chairman Reveals Accelerated Development of Bean Bun Smartphone, Hints at Lobster Model Launch This Year

At the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026, held in Boao, Hainan from March 24th to 27th, ZTE Corporation Chairman Fang Rong participated in a forum session titled "Entering the AI Era: Seizing Opportunities to Create the Future."

Discussing the development progress of the Bean Bun smartphone, she stated that the device can provide comprehensive solutions and assist with various daily life arrangements. She described it as an innovative product that challenges existing rules and standard specifications. However, she noted that the government is very supportive of new AI applications. Therefore, certification for both the AI model and the smartphone itself is progressing rapidly. She expressed the hope that the Bean Bun smartphone would become available for large-scale public use.

She also indicated that the company is continuously moving forward and has its own "Lobster" project. Particularly regarding data security, work is advancing simultaneously. She suggested that a Lobster smartphone model could potentially be launched within the year.
