At last Friday's 2025 BYD Fan Night event, Li Yunfei, General Manager of Brand and Public Relations at BYD Company Limited, provided detailed explanations for BYD's decision to offer an "intelligent parking safety guarantee."
Li Yunfei disclosed that the company launched its intelligent parking safety guarantee policy in July, featuring unlimited coverage costs, availability to all owners (not just first owners), and no impact on subsequent insurance premiums, which generated significant attention. Prior to this announcement, BYD was preparing for its largest-scale Over-The-Air (OTA) update in company history.
During the proposal presentation to Chairman Wang Chuanfu, some team members initially suggested that the safety guarantee should only apply to vehicles after the OTA update, given the comprehensive nature of the planned software upgrade across multiple vehicle models.
However, Li Yunfei revealed that during the meeting, BYD's intelligent driving team presented compelling data. The presentation showed that BYD's intelligent parking system has an accident probability of less than one in a million, demonstrating exceptionally low risk levels.
Based on this data, Chairman Wang Chuanfu made an immediate decision to implement the safety guarantee across all existing vehicles without waiting for the OTA update. This led to the official announcement on July 9th. "The data speaks for itself, so we have complete confidence in this technology," Li Yunfei stated.
At BYD's intelligent strategy launch event in February titled "Eye of God Ushering in the Era of Universal Intelligent Driving," Chairman Wang Chuanfu announced that all BYD vehicle series would be equipped with advanced intelligent driving capabilities. The initial rollout covered 21 vehicle models across different price segments, including sub-100,000 yuan, 100,000-200,000 yuan, and above 200,000 yuan categories, encompassing the Han, Tang, Song, Seal, Sea Lion, Dolphin, and Seagull series.
On July 7th this year, BYD announced that vehicles equipped with its "Eye of God" intelligent driving system had surpassed 1 million units in market presence. Simultaneously, the company announced its largest-scale intelligent driving OTA update to date.
