Sachem Capital's top finance executive, Nicholas Marcello, is leaving the real-estate investment trust to pursue an opportunity outside the sector.

Sachem on Friday said Marcello, who became the Branford, Conn., company's permanent chief financial officer in August after assuming the post on an interim basis in June, has resigned but will remain available through the end of the year to assist with the transition.

Sachem said it plans a search for a new chief financial officer, adding that Jeffrey Walraven, who joined the board in August, is stepping in as interim finance chief.

Marcello joined Sachem in September 2020.
