Siemens' Move on Dotmatics Looks Sound But Expensive -- Market Talk

0555 GMT - Siemens' acquisition of Dotmatics looks strategically sound but, at $5.1 billion, the move is not cheap, RBC Capital Markets analysts say in a research note. The acquisition cost represents about 3% of the German industrial company's market cap to acquire a software company that generates about 1% of Siemens' Ebita, the analysts say. The expansion of the company's software capabilities is a key factor enabling Siemens to deliver growth. "The question is whether Software M&A will translate into the group valuation in the near term, or be another undervalued portion of the Siemens sum-of-the-parts," the analysts say.(pierre.bertrand@wsj.com)
