0956 ET - U.S. natural gas futures are lower as the market awaits weekly storage data from the EIA. An early start to the injection season with milder-than-usual March weather that has continued into April has seen the inventory deficit against the five-year-average shrink to 74 Bcf from 230 Bcf, with expectations of a shift to a surplus in coming weeks knocking more than $1 off Nymex gas this month. Analysts in a Wall Street Journal survey estimate that storage increased by 62 Bcf last week, trimming the deficit to 70 Bcf. Nymex natural gas is off 4.1% at $2.899/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
