WeRide Gets Driverless Testing License in Guangzhou

WeRide (WRD) said Wednesday it received the first batch of driverless road-testing licenses from the Nansha District in Guangzhou, China.

The approval allows WeRide to test its Robovan W5 on public roads without a safety driver. The vehicle is designed for urban freight, and the company plans to expand autonomous logistics operations.

Shares of WeRide were down 3.5% in recent trading.
