China CITIC Bank's Q1 Profit Inches Up 1.7%

China CITIC Bank's (HKG:0998) attributable profit inched up 1.7% to 19.5 billion yuan in the first quarter from 19.2 billion yuan in the year-ago period, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

Earnings per share at the bank decreased 5.3% to 0.36 yuan from 0.38 yuan in the year-ago period.

Net interest income climbed to 35.7 billion yuan from about 35 billion yuan, while operating income fell 3.65% to 51.6 billion yuan from 53.6 billion yuan.

The bank's shares slipped about 1% in Hong Kong and Shanghai during morning trading on Wednesday.
