PetroChina's Q1 Profit Rises 2%, Revenue Slips 7%

PetroChina's (HKG:0857, SHA:601857) profit attributable to owners in the first quarter rose 2.3% year on year to 46.8 billion yuan or 0.26 yuan per share, according to a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing on Tuesday.

The Chinese oil and gas giant's attributable profit a year earlier was 45.8 billion yuan or 0.25 yuan per share.

The company's first-quarter revenue slipped 7.3% to 753.1 billion yuan from 812.8 billion yuan in the previous year, the filing said.

PetroChina's Hong Kong shares rose more than 2% in recent trade.
