The Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday there was another outage affecting radar and communication equipment used by flight controllers at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey.
According to the agency's X feed, the communications and radar display from the TRACON Area C near Philadelphia went down for about 90 seconds beginning at 3:55 am on Friday, May 9. This was the same equipment used by controllers in Newark that experienced a similar outage on April 28.
The FAA statement on Friday was preliminary and subject to change, the agency said.
Shares of United Airlines (UAL) were down over 3% in recent trading. The airline company is the largest user of the Newark airport, according to media reports.
