Microsoft-backed (MSFT) Mistral AI on Tuesday launched Magistral, its first reasoning model designed to handle complex, step-by-step analysis with clear and traceable logic across multiple languages.

The model comes in two versions called Magistral Small, a 24 billion-parameter open-source version, and Magistral Medium, a more powerful enterprise-grade release, the company said.

Magistral excels in multilingual reasoning, supporting clear thought processes in languages like English, French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese, among others, it added.

The open-source version is publicly available under Apache 2.0 via Hugging Face, while the enterprise version is accessible through Le Chat and major cloud platforms, including Amazon SageMaker, the company added.
