据路透，美国联邦贸易委员会(FTC)致函亚马逊及沃尔玛，敦促打击在其在线市场作虚假“美国制造”声称的第三方卖家。信中表示，已发现多宗第三方卖家虚称其产品为“美国制造”的情况，敦促公司对违反联邦法律及公司订立行为准则的卖家采取纠正措施。此外，另外四家较小零售商亦收到当局警告信。FTC主席Andrew Ferguson声明指，消费者希望在购买“美国制造”产品时，能确信真正支持美国工人和美国经济。沃尔玛声明表示，对第三方卖家的不合规产品零容忍，一旦发现将予以移除。
