0730 GMT - Meituan's spending will likely peak in 3Q as the competition in the food delivery industry tends to be more intense during the summer, Jefferies analysts say in a research note. Meituan's 2Q revenue likely rose 13% on year with on-demand delivery order volume increasing 12% on year, the analysts note. For its core local commerce segment, Jefferies expects revenue to grow 12% in 2025, but operating profit to decline about 45%. The analysts expect Meituan to maintain its lead in the on-demand delivery industry, supported by solid execution and significant investment in 2025. The aggregate incremental spending of Meituan, Ele.me and JD could exceed 100 billion yuan in 2025, they add. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
