1305 ET - EBay is continuing to use generative AI to drive personalized customer engagement, a move that's part of the online marketplace's broader push to engage inflation-weary shoppers who are cutting back on discretionary spending. The company in late 2024 introduced AI-generated subject lines and personalized customer relationship management emails in the U.S., which drove a more than 40% increase in quality visits compared with its prior approach, company executives say. EBay in recent months expanded this feature to the U.K. The company is pushing AI into its advertising as well, which saw first-party revenue grow 17% in 2Q. (natalie.weger@wsj.com; @NatalieWeger)
