Broad Market Indicators
Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV advanced. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.3%.
US equity indexes rose with government bond yields in midday trading on Friday as investors monitored efforts underway to secure a Russia-Ukraine peace deal.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) added 0.5% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was up 0.7%.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 0.9%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also moved higher.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) gained 0.8%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) was 0.7% up.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) climbed 0.8%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) rose 2.1%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), dropped 2.4%.
Commodities
Crude oil rose 0.4%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.7%. Natural gas fell 2.1%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) shed 2.4%.
Gold was up 1% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell fractionally. Silver rose 0.7%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was flat.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) advanced 0.4%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also moved higher.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) gained 0.2%, and VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were mixed, with the latter falling 0.1%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) added 0.9%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were also lower. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 0.6%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) shed less than 0.1%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) edged higher.
Cryptocurrency
In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) dipped 1.1%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) lost 1.1%, ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) climbed 2.6%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) slipped 0.3%.
