By Navneeta Nandan

Aug 14 - (The Insurer) - Horace Mann Educators Corporation executive vice president and chief operating officer Stephen McAnena has stepped down from his position, the Springfield, Illinois-based insurer disclosed in an 8-K filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

McAnena stepped down on Sunday but will remain at the company through March 1, 2026, to ensure a smooth transition of his responsibilities.

The filing did not state any reason for the decision.

During the transition period, McAnena's outstanding equity awards will continue to vest or, in the case of performance-based equity awards, be eligible to vest in accordance with their current terms. Any unvested equity awards held by him at the end of the period will automatically terminate, the insurer said.

He will be paid a salary at a rate of $575,000 per year during this period of ongoing employment with Horace Mann, it stated.
