Deere's Earnings Appear to Be Troughing -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Aug 16

1323 ET - Deere's guidance points to a third year of declines in equipment demand, but earnings appear to be bottoming out at $18 a share, Morgan Stanley analysts say in a research note. EPS is on track to be stronger than anticipated for 2025, operating income margins in its agricultural and turf divisions seem to be troughing in the mid-teen percentage range, instead of high-single-digits as seen during the last downturn, the analysts say, maintaining an overweight rating. Gimme Credit's Carol Levenson maintains an outperform rating as well, despite the declines in the latest completed quarter. "Itʼs hard to find the silver lining in such a performance, except to think of it as a trough, which is implied by the companyʼs guidance," Levenson says. Shares rise 2.1% to $488.99.
