Brown-Forman Gets Emerging Markets Gains While Other Regions Falter -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Aug 28

1033 ET - Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey maker Brown-Forman recorded gains in its emerging international markets, providing some relief to declines everywhere else. The emerging markets, which include Mexico, Poland, Brazil and Turkey, saw net sales up 20%, and 25% on an organic basis. The growth was led by higher volumes of the Jack Daniel's family of brands, particularly in Brazil and Turkey. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple performed well in Brazil. International sales in its developed markets meanwhile fell 8% from soft consumer demand, with Brown-Forman citing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty. Sales in the U.S. were down 8%, or 2% on an organic basis, from lower Jack Daniel's and Herradura tequila volumes. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
