Australian Economy Operating Near Full Potential -- Market Talk

0632 GMT - Australian GDP rose by 0.6% on-quarter in 2Q and 1.8% on-year, led by a strong pick-up in household consumption. Although productivity improved a little in the quarter, the economy is operating near its full capacity, says Paul Bloxham, chief economist at HSBC. Bloxham estimates potential GDP growth of 1.75%-2.0% for 2025. With an upswing in growth and an economy near its full capacity, it is not clear where further disinflation will come from to allow further rate cuts, he adds.
