Meta Platforms (META) continues to rely on Chinese supplier Goertek for its new AI smart glasses, despite CEO Mark Zuckerberg's alignment with US President Donald Trump's tougher stance on Beijing, the Financial Times reported Tuesday.

Goertek is producing Meta's upcoming Hypernova smart glasses and has tightened its grip on the industry by acquiring key component suppliers in China and the UK, according to the report.

The Chinese hardware supplier remains a key partner in Vietnam, where Meta has tried to diversify production by manufacturing its Quest virtual reality headsets, the report said.

Meta Platforms did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
