Clear Channel Outdoor (CCO) is being urged by Anson Funds Management to explore a sale of the company, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The activist investor, which holds a 3.6% stake in the outdoor advertising company, has made its position known to the Clear Channel board, the report said.

Sagar Gupta, who leads Anson's activism efforts, previously worked at Legion Partners Asset Management, which pushed Clear Channel in 2023 to accelerate international divestitures and consider a full sale.

Clear Channel, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, has since sold off much of its international operations, including in France and Brazil, the report added.

Clear Channel and Anson Funds didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comments.

Shares of Clear Channel Outdoor rose 6.8% in recent trading.
