法庭文件显示，被告在一次聚会中以借口获取了受害者的公寓门禁卡并未归还。随后，他趁受害者外出时非法进入其公寓，找到并用手机拍下了一张写有 Ledger Nano X 硬件钱包 24 词助记词的纸条。被告在第二天使用该助记词转移了资金，并将其用于购买奢侈手表、在线赌博等。他声称，其犯罪动机是在 2022 年 FTX 交易所倒闭后遭受了严重的财务损失。
