FreshPet May Face Near-Term Jitters as CFO Departs for Campbell's -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Oct 08

0903 ET - Todd Cunfer's departure as CFO of Freshpet to become finance chief at Campbell's, could present near-term challenges for Freshpet, D.A. Davidson says in a research note, with the market inferring that any problems the company faces may run deeper than a malaise in consumer confidence. "We don't think that's the case," analysts Brian Holland and Owen Tunstill write. "Rather, we believe Mr. Cunfer simply received a bigger opportunity closer to home." Campbell's, on the other hand, will gain a CFO with a strong track record of profit improvement, balance sheet management and forecasting prowess, the analysts say. "His appointment presumably will raise speculation of an earnings reset at Campbell's," they add. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
