1035 ET - The U.S.-led Golden Dome initiative represents a golden opportunity for Canadian companies, analysts at CIBC Capital Markets reckon. Canada's participation in the missile defense plans would mark one of the most significant defense undertakings in the country's history and aligns with Ottawa's commitment to hit 2% of GDP in defense spending, the analysts say. For the country's industry, the systems, infrastucture and expertise needed for the Golden Dome fit well with several of Canada's core strengths in aeospace, engineering and technology. They says Canada's likely contributions could include surveillance, command integration, and defensive infrastructure. CIBC highlights possible beneficiaries include Bombardier, CAE, MDA Space, Atkins Realis, BlackBerry and CGI. (robb.stewart@wsj.com)
