I know we are probably over-reacting but it’s a legitimate worry.”The boutique restaurant offers an intimate 18-seat dining experience serving contemporary Australian cuisine sourced ethically from sustainable farms across NSW, with a seven-course tasting menu that is changed weekly.But the restaurant’s “hyper local dining experience” has come under attack in an online post accusing it of “anti-veganism”.“I was supposed to go to an event at this place until I was told they could not/would not cater for me as a vegan,” the post read.“Why are so many high-end chefs like this?”The Blue Door offers a ‘farm-to-table’ dining experience via a seven-course tasting menu. Credit: The Blue DoorThe post was shared widely online and received dozens of vitriolic comments agreeing with the original poster and criticising the restaurant.“Chefs who rely on animal products are so insecure” one person said.“Maybe they should employ better chefs — embarrassing,” another person said.However other people sided with the restaurant owners having autonomy over what dishes they chose to serve.“If they don’t have the skills to do high quality vegan food, then it is better they are honest about it,” one person said.“Instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water, celebrate the fact this business is encouraging a more thoughtful conversation around our social consumption of meat.”Dylan and Angelica said the online slander and “unfounded, unprovoked accusations” have distressed their small team, who are “genuinely saddened by the comments”.Restaurant owners Dylan and Angelica said the comments have distressed their small team. Credit: The Blue Door“Bullying a venue, or doing fake one-star Google reviews, because they simply don’t provide a service for you is unfair,” they told 7NEWS.com.au.“(Farm to table) is what our identity is in a flooded Sydney market.
