Singapore shares incurred losses on Friday, tracking regional gains as the overall regional sentiment was impacted by worries over the US Federal Reserve's decision on the interest rate next month.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 4,522.23 and 4,560.49 throughout the day. It ended the session at 4,546.07, down 29.84 points or 0.7% compared to Thursday's close.
In company news, shares of SATS (SGX:S58) were down over 2% at the close as its attributable profit to owners jumped to SG$149.8 million in fiscal half year ended Sept. 30 from SG$134.7 million a year earlier.
Mermaid Maritime's (SGX:DU4) shares were up over 3% as its attributable profit to owners grew to $16.5 million in Q3 from $1.1 million a year earlier.
Meanwhile, shares of Centurion (SGX:OU8) were down over 1% at the close after the company reported a 9% revenue growth to SG$67.5 million in Q3 from SG$62.1 million a year earlier.
