U.K. House Prices More Resilient Than People Think -- Market Talk

0905 GMT - House prices in the U.K. could pass 300,000 pounds this month, suggesting the sector is more resilient than people think, RBC analyst Anthony Codling writes. Average house prices rose to record highs of 299,900 pounds in November, a report from Halifax said. Despite uncertainty over the U.K. budget, the positive growth anticipates a strong spring selling season as homeowners who put off selling in the fall look to sell in the new year, Codling argues. Barratt Redrow, Taylor Wimpey and Berkeley shares are up around 3% in early trading, while property website Rightmove rises 1.6%.(josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
