ChainCatcher 消息，以太坊联合创始人 Vitalik Buterin 表示，以太坊区块链需要更好地向用户解释其特性，以实现真正的“免信任性”，这也是所有区块链协议面临的共同挑战。“免信任性”意味着协议无需开发者监督，仅通过代码自动执行规则。然而，如果协议过于复杂，以至于只有少数人能参与其运作，那么在实践中，其他人仍不得不信任这个群体。
以太坊本身已具备免信任特性，因为交易和智能合约由开源代码及去中心化的验证者网络执行。但 Buterin 在周三的 X 推文中指出，网络仍需提升用户的理解能力。“一种重要但被低估的免信任形式，是增加能够真正从上到下透彻理解整个协议的人数。以太坊需要通过简化协议来在这方面做得更好。”当被问及在技术特性与用户理解之间权衡下，这一设想的现实性如何时，Buterin 表示：“我们应该愿意在某些时候减少一些功能。”
