The return on their investment would have been much higher had they held on to their stock.      Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions,  we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. Lindian Resources Insider Transactions Over The Last Year   In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the insider, Rohan Patnaik, sold AU$260k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.085 per share.    That means that even when the share price was below the current price of AU$0.41, an insider wanted to cash in some shares.  As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation.  However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal.   This single sale was just 5.1% of Rohan Patnaik's stake.      Rohan Patnaik was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.     In the last twelve months insiders purchased 1.50m shares for AU$135k.  But they sold 3.08m shares for AU$260k.
