U.K. Housing Market Eyes Spring Recovery as Forward-Looking Indicators Defy December Lull -- Market Talk

0944 GMT - Although U.K. housing market activity was subdued in December house builders are expecting a strong selling season this spring, RBC Capital Markets analysts Anthony Codling and Oliver Dyson say. This isn't surprising after the late November budget and a month of looking forward to both Christmas and the new year, the analysts say. Still, according to the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' survey, forward-looking indicators have started to turn more positive. This has been corroborated by the latest releases from Rightmove, as well as investor calls with housebuilders Vistry and Persimmon, the analysts say. "It seems that the scene is already set for a good Spring selling season, and we expect RICS' January U.K. Residential Survey will be more positive than December's," RBC says.
