Oceana Metals (ASX:OCN) said it completed a trenching and mapping program at the Solonopole lithium project in Brazil, with surface samples dispatched to a commercial laboratory for assay, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

A total of 88 pegmatite-bearing samples were collected, with sample lengths ranging between 0.5 meters and 1.5 meters, the filing said. Assay results are expected during the current quarter.

The technical team is conducting a desktop review of all historical data, including geochemical data, geophysical data, and satellite imagery, to identify target areas for potential base metal mineralization at the Bangemall project in Western Australia, the filing added.

Oceana Metals' shares fell past 3% in recent trading on Thursday.
