NovaBridge Biosciences shares were 5.4% higher, at $3.93, after the company said Fu Wei, its executive chairman, intends to buy up to $5 million of the company's American depositary shares in open-market transactions.

The biotechnology company said the purchases started Jan. 15, and are ongoing.

NovaBridge said that, as the planned purchases are to be executed by Fu Wei via his controlled entity, the company can't guarantee the number of ADSs to be bought or the time frame in which the ADSs will be bought in the open market.

NovaBridge shares have more than tripled in the past 12 months.
