Market Chatter: Mainland Investors Sell Record HK$27.7 Billion of Hong Kong Stocks

Mainland Chinese investors sold a record HK$27.7 billion worth of Hong Kong stocks through the Stock Connect on Thursday, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing compiled data.

Onshore investors have been a key source of support for Hong Kong equities, with net purchases still totaling HK$153.6 billion so far this year, the report said.

However, demand has softened as an AI-driven rally loses momentum and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East weigh on sentiment, while mainland markets gain appeal following policy signals from China's annual National People's Congress, Bloomberg wrote.
