A woman was deceived out of 380,000 yuan after falling into a romance scam on the social platform Tantan, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects by police. According to a report, on December 1 last year, a resident named Ms. Wang from Lixian County reported that in early November, she met a man on Tantan who identified himself as Liu. Through daily attentive greetings, he quickly established a romantic relationship with her.

Under Liu's persuasion, starting from November 8, 2025, Ms. Wang began investing funds into an application named "a certain oil and gas trading center." When she attempted to withdraw her funds after accumulating an investment of 250,000 yuan, customer service informed her that an additional 70,000 yuan in "taxes" was required.

Even after paying the so-called tax, the withdrawal remained blocked, and the counterparty then demanded an "additional investment of 60,000 yuan." It was only after transferring a total of 380,000 yuan that Ms. Wang realized all the funds had been funneled into private individual accounts.

Upon receiving the report, the Lixian County Public Security Bureau immediately formed a special task force to fully investigate the case. Task force officers traveled to locations such as Chongqing and Guangan to execute arrests, successfully apprehending 10 criminal suspects.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the criminal group's total involved amount exceeds 10 million yuan. Currently, all captured suspects have been criminally detained in accordance with the law, and police are conducting further investigations to pursue the remaining individuals involved.

Tantan's official website indicates that the Tantan application was launched in July 2014 and is a social product developed by Tantan Cultural Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd. On February 23, 2018, Hello Group Inc. announced that it had reached a definitive agreement with Tantan and its shareholders to acquire 100% of Tantan's equity through a combination of stock and cash.
