ServiceNow’s shares closed at $150.13, falling 3.00% from the previous close.

Options flow showed a clash between a $957,000 synthetic put and a $2.01 million call buy, but the dominant tone remained bearish. The synthetic put efficiently created short exposure, while the outright call purchase added isolated upside speculation. With implied volatility at its annual extreme, premium levels favored sellers even as institutional blocks leaned defensive.

Options Indicators

ServiceNow’s implied volatility is 81.91%, and with an IV percentile of 100.00%, current option volatility sits at the extreme high end of its recent range, indicating that options are priced expensively rather than cheaply. The IV/HV ratio of 2.25 further shows implied volatility is running well above realized volatility, suggesting the options market is embedding a much larger forward volatility premium than what the stock has recently delivered. The Call/Put volume ratio is 0.92, reflecting relatively balanced but slightly put-heavy activity in the background.

Large Trades

A synthetic put position with a net debit of $957,000 stood out among the displayed large trades, pairing a purchase of 3,000 Jan. 15, 2027 $135.00 puts with a sale of 3,000 Jan. 15, 2027 $190.00 calls. Both legs were out of the money versus the $149.385 reference stock price, and the structure expresses a distinctly bearish stance by effectively creating short stock exposure through options. The trader paid a modest net premium to position for downside over a long-dated horizon, suggesting conviction that NOW may weaken materially while using the short call leg to help finance the protective and directional put purchase.

A call buy worth $2.01 million was the other notable displayed trade, consisting of 1,400 Feb. 19, 2027 $165.00 calls bought outright. With the strike above the current stock reference, the calls were out of the money, making this a clean upside speculation or leveraged bullish positioning rather than a hedge. Even so, the broader large-trade flow still points bearish overall: the most prominent directional structure was the synthetic put, and aggregate block activity was heavily skewed to downside exposure relative to bullish premium. In short, while there is some appetite for upside participation, the dominant institutional tone in the bulk orders remains bearish, implying expectations for weaker price action or at least a cautious outlook on NOW.

Strategy Reference

Given 100th percentile IV, a short put seller could consider the Jan. 15, 2027 $85.00 strike, which sits far below the market and offers a low assignment probability while capturing elevated volatility premium; alternatively, a bear put spread using the $135.00/$110.00 strikes would cap margin and align with the dominant downside flow.
