1735 ET - United Airlines is guiding closer to its "recessionary scenario" -- even though the economy hasn't slipped into a recession. The airline offered an adjusted earnings per share range of $9 to $11 for the year, 50 cents closer to the low estimate of $7 to $9 it offered in April to account for a recession scenario than it is to the original $11.50 to $13.50 range. While the market has recovered from its tariff-related drop, consumers still look shaky. Slower demand has weighed on the company since early spring and didn't fully rebound in the second quarter -- though CEO Scott Kirby is hopeful about a turnaround in the second half of the year.
