BacTech Environmental Corp. BacTech Environmental holds an exclusive, perpetual license to use commercial bioleaching technology for the remediation of contaminated mine tailings. BacTech Enivronmental's BACOX technology uses naturally occurring bacteria, harmless to both humans and the environment, to oxidize the contained sulphides and separate metal from the difficult-to-process tailings. In the process, toxic elements such as arsenic are stabilized. The tailings created by bioleaching are benign, and zero environmental damage occurs as a result of the process. In addition, the Company, along with Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada, is investigating the use of bioleaching to treat high grade gold/arsenic concentrates produced by artisanal miners in Ecuador.
