Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (ÂGPCÂ), was established on 1 September 1997 as a result of the reorganization of 8 Chinese patent medicine manufacturers and 3 pharmaceutical trading firms under Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited., and the securities of GPC were listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited in October 1997 and on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in January 2001. Currently, GPC owns 9 Chinese medicine manufacturers, 4 pharmaceutical trading firms and 2 pharmaceutical research institutes and it is principally engaged in (1) the acture and sales of Chinese Patent Medicine (ÂCPMÂ); (2) wholesale,retail, import and export of western and Chinese pharmaceutical products and medical apparatus; and (3) research and development of natural medicine and biological medicine.
