Westar Energy, Inc. (Westar Energy) is an electric utility operating in Kansas. It provides electric generation, transmission and distribution services to approximately 685,000 customers in Kansas. Westar Energy provides these services in central and north-eastern Kansas, including the cities of Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Salina and Hutchinson. Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KGE), Westar Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary, provides these services in south-central and south-eastern Kansas, including the city of Wichita. KGE owns a 47% interest in Wolf Creek Generating Station (Wolf Creek), a nuclear power plant located near Burlington, Kansas. Both Westar Energy and KGE conduct business using the name Westar Energy.
