全地形车制造商北极星股价大幅上涨，此前该公司暗示其关税负担可能转化为竞争优势。
北极星在墨西哥设有大型工厂，但同时也将多数车辆生产布局在美国本土。这与主要竞争对手BRP形成鲜明对比——后者旗下Can-Am全地形车的生产几乎完全集中于墨西哥。
本月早些时候，特朗普政府将进口全地形车的金属材料含量税改为按整车价值征收25%关税后，BRP随即暂停发布全年业绩指引。该公司表示，此项政策调整可能导致其关税支出突破5亿美元。
北极星高管在财报电话会议上透露，预计今年关税成本将达到2.15亿美元，但同时正在就美国最高法院裁定无效的关税条款申请1.25亿美元退税。
该公司第一季度销售额和利润均超出华尔街预期。其股价开盘一度下挫6%，但午盘时段反弹约8%。
