In 2025, Shijiazhuang's industrial sector demonstrated robust growth, with value-added output from large-scale industries rising by 10.3% year-on-year. This growth rate surpassed the national average by 4.4 percentage points and exceeded the provincial average by 2.4 percentage points. The impressive figures reflect the persistent efforts of local enterprises to innovate, transform, and enhance both scale and quality in industrial operations.

Innovation has emerged as a key driver. For instance, Shineway Pharmaceutical Group saw three classical prescription products approved for market launch in 2025, bringing its total to four approved products. Leveraging national-level R&D platforms, the company has established a comprehensive research system covering ancient literature studies, raw material tracing, process innovation, and clinical verification. Currently, over 100 classical and innovative traditional medicine projects are under development, spanning respiratory, digestive, and gynecological treatments.

Similarly, Shimei Machinery Company, adhering to an innovation-driven strategy, completed 49 new product designs, 38 prototype trials, and 10 product improvements in 2025. It also participated in formulating three coal industry standards and secured nine patents while applying for 19 more. The company was recommended for inclusion in Hebei’s list of national intellectual property demonstration enterprises for 2025–2027.

Digital and intelligent technologies are accelerating upgrades in equipment and processes. At Hebei Jingye Gaopin Steel Technology Co., intelligent unmanned cranes equipped with 5G and AI technologies now handle steel coils with high precision. Jingye Group has implemented over 70 robotic replacements across core processes such as ironmaking, steelmaking, and rolling. Its smart factory project was recognized as a national-level exemplary intelligent plant in 2025.

Many other enterprises in Shijiazhuang are also advancing digital transformation. The city has promoted upgrades under the “5G + Industrial Internet” initiative, with Kexing Pharmaceutical’s 5G factory being listed among national 5G plants. A total of 49 factories were selected as provincial advanced smart factories, and one was designated as a national exemplary smart plant.

Enterprises have not progressed alone. A supportive industrial ecosystem has enabled key players to grow steadily. The municipal government has strengthened operational monitoring, project support, and industrial upgrading. Initiatives such as the “Hundred-Billion-Yuan Project” and smart manufacturing pilot programs have encouraged technological transformation and innovation.

As Shijiazhuang enters the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan in 2026, further measures will be implemented to guide large-scale industrial enterprises toward high-quality development, fostering intelligent, green, and integrated industrial growth.
