The news that Meta has teamed up with a Chinese robotics company to develop a humanoid robot is sparking discussion.
Recent reports suggest that Meta has partnered with the Chinese robotics company FOURSEMI to build a humanoid robot prototype in roughly three months, and the two sides are already working on a second version.
Internally at Meta, the robot is called Max, weighs about 48 kilograms, and is intended for internal research and experimentation.
Meta Vice President of Robotics Product Li-Chen Miller also spent nearly two months at Fourier's factory in Shanghai, according to the reports.
In response, FOURSEMI founder and CEO Gu Jie told that it is not convenient to comment at this time.
FOURSEMI experienced sharp swings on Monday. The stock briefly surged more than 30% in early trading before reversing course and falling more than 1% by midday.
