The artificial intelligence research laboratory Thinking Machines Lab (TML), established by former OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, has successfully raised $2 billion in seed funding. Andreessen Horowitz spearheaded this financing round, with participation from prominent investors such as NVIDIA, AMD, Accel, ServiceNow, Cisco, and Jane Street. Founded in February this year, TML currently has no products or revenue streams. Despite this, Murati recently declared on social media that the company will unveil its inaugural offering within the next few months. This seed funding ranks among the largest initial financings ever recorded, propelling TML's valuation from approximately $10 billion to $12 billion.

TML has assembled a high-caliber team comprising over 20 top-tier researchers and engineers, recruited from leading AI entities like OpenAI and Anthropic. Key personnel include OpenAI co-founder John Schulman, former researchers Barret Zoph and Luke Metz, and Peking University alumnus Weng Li. The company's innovative approach focuses on integrating AI models with specific key performance indicators (KPIs) monitored by businesses, targeting direct enhancements in client revenue or profitability. Investors have coined this targeted strategy "RL for businesses," as it aims to deliver highly customized solutions for corporate efficiency and growth.
