BYD Sees 28.56% YoY Drop in April NEV Output to 0.32 Million Units; Exports Reach 0.14 Million

BYD Company Limited released unaudited production and sales data for April 2026, revealing a marked year-on-year contraction in new-energy-vehicle (NEV) volumes.

Overall Performance • Production fell 28.56% YoY to 0.32 million units (322,298), while sales retreated 26.02% to 0.32 million units (321,123).

Product Mix • Passenger vehicles accounted for the bulk of activity, with production of 0.32 million units (317,244), down 28.63% YoY. – Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs): 0.16 million units (159,264), −27.79% YoY. – Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs): 0.16 million units (157,980), −29.34% YoY. • Commercial-vehicle production slipped 24.22% YoY to 0.01 million units (5,054), while sales declined 16.62% to 0.01 million units (7,023). Bus output edged up 23.54% YoY to 440 units.

Year-to-Date Snapshot (Jan–Apr 2026) • Cumulative production totaled 1.03 million units, down 28.56% from 1.44 million a year earlier. • Cumulative sales reached 1.02 million units, a 26.02% decrease versus 1.38 million in the same period of 2025.

Export Momentum • Overseas shipments of NEVs stood at 0.14 million units (135,098) in April, underscoring the company’s continued international push despite domestic volume softness.

Battery Deployment • Installed capacity of NEV power batteries and energy-storage batteries amounted to 20.98 GWh in April. Year-to-date installations reached 81.19 GWh.
