数据中心开发商对发电机的需求正呈井喷式增长，而卡特彼勒（Caterpillar）正全力以赴，加速响应这一市场变化。
这家建筑设备制造商周二宣布，已将位于堪萨斯州瓦梅戈的一座现有工厂进行改造，专门用于生产数据中心青睐的涡轮发动机。与此同时，卡特彼勒还重启了 10 兆瓦发电机的生产线——该型号产品自2022年后便未再生产，公司预计将于今年第四季度开始发货。
“我们不需要投入大量资金，仅凭现有供应链基础就能重启生产，”首席执行官乔·克里德（Joe Creed）表示。
在第二季度，卡特彼勒的电力与能源业务销售额较去年同期增长了17%。公司指出，强劲的增长动力来自数据中心客户——这些客户将发电机既用于备用电源，也作为主要电力来源。受此利好消息提振，卡特彼勒股价当日上涨约7%。
