Aker BP and Viridien have entered into a five-year strategic partnership agreement to enhance collaboration in multi-client ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic acquisition, imaging, and technological development for exploration on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The agreement establishes a cooperative framework intended to align strategic and innovation initiatives, aiming to boost exploration efficiency and support future discoveries offshore Norway.

Under the partnership, Aker BP's operational expertise will be combined with Viridien's seismic imaging technology and geoscience knowledge. The two companies also plan to expand multi-client OBN seismic coverage to support extensive exploration activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The collaboration will focus on advancing seismic acquisition, imaging, and processing technologies to improve subsurface data quality and support both exploration and field development activities.

Petter Sørhaug from Aker BP's Exploration and Reservoir Development unit stated, "Aker BP views ocean bottom node seismic technology as key to improving imaging and obtaining higher-quality subsurface data for exploration and field development. Our expertise in seismic imaging and understanding of the local geology have been instrumental in reducing near-field exploration risk and enabling recent discoveries.
