Elon Musk recently reposted a video on X featuring his interview with Ron Baron. In the interview, Musk stated, "We see a viable path to deploying 100 GW of solar-powered AI satellites into orbit annually. This approach could actually enable large-scale AI operations at the lowest cost."
He added, "For context, the U.S. consumes an average of about 460 GW of electricity annually, with an average load of 460 GW. This plan would account for roughly a quarter of the U.S.'s annual electricity production. We’ve already mapped out how to achieve this—it’s absolutely mind-blowing."
In another post, Musk remarked, "Deploying 100 GW of AI in space every year is a challenging path, but we know how to do it."
