At the 2026 interim results conference held on August 21, Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. executives addressed market concerns regarding taxation on overseas policy dividends.
Ping An General Manager and Co-CEO Xie Yonglin responded with three concise points. First, he noted that on August 7, the State Taxation Administration's relevant department head had already clarified the taxation of Hong Kong policy income, stating that "Chinese tax residents must fulfill tax obligations on global income, and overseas insurance earnings also fall within the scope of taxable income. This is not a new policy, and the market should not overinterpret it." Xie emphasized this is not a newly introduced policy but one that has long existed.
Second, he clarified that this taxation has not been extended to domestic insurance earnings, as the system has not yet been implemented for onshore insurance policies. Third, Xie pointed out that Ping An's overseas policy business is extremely limited, meaning the overall impact on the company is virtually zero.
Meanwhile, Xie expressed optimism about the growth prospects of the domestic life insurance market, highlighting its substantial scale and strong potential. He stated that the company's management will continue to build diversified distribution channels and develop a wide range of products to meet diverse customer needs, fully capitalizing on market opportunities to further strengthen and expand the life insurance business.
