Guardian Metal Resources (GMTL) has partnered with the Montana Mining Association to launch a US-based tungsten mining and recovery pilot program supporting domestic defense applications, the company said Wednesday.
The initiative, also involving Montana Technological University and the Army Research Laboratory, will use stockpiled legacy ore from Guardian's Tempiute Tungsten project in Nevada, Guardian Metal said.
An initial 250-400 tonnes of ore will be shipped to Philipsburg, Montana, for trial processing, with first deliveries expected by late summer 2026, subject to ongoing metallurgical and pilot-scale testing, it added.
